Frequently asked questions.
Who owns the book?
You do. For us to work with you to create an audio or ebook edition of a book, YOU MUST BE THE RIGHTS HOLDER. If your publisher has the Digital rights to a book you’ve written, talk to them about obtaining the digital rights, or get them to contact us to organise the audio or ebook version. Once the digital version has been created then the rights holder owns that as well.
Does my book have to be already published?
No. You can opt to go straight to digital for your book. However, that said, your book must be professionally edited and up to a professional publishing standard before we begin. Remember your book is a product - anyone can create an ‘average’ product, make sure yours is the best it can be. The New Zealand Society of Authors (authors.org.nz ) have a great resource of manuscript editors for you to work with to get your book ready for publication. Take the time, to do it once and do it well.
Are there some books we won’t work with?
Yes. If your book is primarily pictures or relies heavily on illustrations - for example a cook book - then audio is not the best way to go. Also, if we think your book contains questionable content, is offensive or incites offensive or hurtful behaviour then we are not the people for you.
Do I need to be in Christchurch New Zealand to work with you?
No. We work with writers and publishers anywhere in the world.
What if I have a really limited budget, aren’t audiobooks expensive?
We will work within your budget. Yes you can choose an ‘all bells and whistles’ approach to your book which will cost you more, but you know what, simplest can be best.
